The new Alberta Rules of court (effective November 1, 2010) now mandate that parties in dispute must attempt alternative disupute resolution processes, such as mediation in Alberta or arbitration in Alberta.

We encourage parties to find their own mutually agreed resolution of the issues with the help of the mediator. We do not impose our views. Parties may take their legal opinions from their own Counsel, if Counsel is present. Anything expressed by the mediator at any time in the mediation session is not a legal opinion, but simply a view based on experience. A mediation is settled by the parties on their own terms or on advice of their own Counsel.
