Barry was raised in Welling, Alberta, attending public school in Welling and Magrath.  After receiving a degree from the University of Lethbridge he taught school in Raymond for two years before attending law school at the University of Alberta.  He conducted a general law practice in Lethbridge and then in Calgary before spending 13 years in Fort McMurray working in the law department at Syncrude Canada Ltd.  He returned to Southern Alberta in 2003 and has practised law in Lethbridge and Raymond since that time.  He resides in Raymond with his wife, LuAnne (Fairbanks) and their daughter, Claire.  He is actively involved in his community, currently serving on the Raymond Town Council.

Barry has a general law practice, with a focus on real estate, wills and estate planning and administration and business law.  He is a Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths.  He attends the Lethbridge office on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and attends the Raymond office on Tuesdays, as well as every second Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 in the Raymond office.  He is willing to make himself available at other times by appointment.
