Adam's practice focuses on arbitration, mediation, divorce and
family, and aboriginal
law. As a major part of his practice, he continues to
assist a number of Indian
Residential School Survivor clients with their
Independent Assessment Process (IAP) applications. This program
is
for Survivors who were seriously abused or sexually abused while at
Residential School. Adam is a Chartered Mediator (C.Med.) and a
Certified Arbitrator.
Upon
receiving a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of
Calgary, Adam
undertook a career in
business, technology and publishing, gaining valuable experience in
business
start-ups and executive management. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in
English from Athabasca University while working in business, and his
Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta.
Adam is the
former Editor-in-Chief of the Alberta
Law Review, and the author of a book
entitled So,
You
Want to be a Lawyer, Eh?: Law
School
in
Canada (now in Second Edition).
Adam recently
served as an elected Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta,
serving as
one of the governors of the legal profession. He is the former
Chairman of Rupertsland Institute, a Métis Centre
for Excellence. He is formerly the Chairman of Apeetogosan
(Métis)
Development
Inc., an aboriginal financial institution. He
is
an
active
member of the Métis
Nation of
Alberta.
Adam and
his wife, Carmen, have five children.
In his
spare time,
Adam enjoys running with his dogs, swimming,
triathlons, yoga, and writing.
